The position of a queen goes to the rose plants in any of the gardens. In all states classic or dramatic the blooms of these roses symbolize admiration, beauty and love in our lives.

Roses are used in all occasions be it romance or death. Young girls love to wear roses when they go for their first dance. Roses are given for cheering the sick and for congratulating those who have been successful in their ventures. 

The rich and elite crowds grow roses in their magnificent formal gardens. The roses are also planted in small pots in houses which are not well to do.

Those who want to have a garden that is attractive and do not want to take the ruckus of annual or perennial flowers or herbaceous plants can go in for rose plants.  The flowers of a rose plant are amazing against a back ground of greenery or give a stunning look when grown before a brick wall or wooden fence. 

You will have to assess your garden area when you want to grow rose bushes. You have to make sure that the soil is well drained in a location that is sunny. In other words the plant must get direct sunlight for at least six hours in a day.

The rose plants are available in various types and colors. Some of them bloom trough the season while some bloom only once. Some of them like that of Tea roses have only one flower in its sturdy stem that is tall while some others like floribundas have several blooms in its stem.

There are some varieties which are called as heirloom varieties as they are grown for various generations. The fragrances of the older ones are very strong but the new hybrid ones have very less fragrance as their genetic trait gets compromised for another trait such as their color or hardiness.

There are kinds that are sensitive and delicate and kinds that are sturdy and strong that they can grow near the beach which is not very far from the ocean. The best example for that is the Rosa Ragusa.  You can choose from climbers or tea roses to various other endless varieties based on your needs. 

You can also choose a plant based on the color. But there are various shades of that color in which the plants are available that you can very easily get confused on what shade you exactly want.

These rose plants come with a name like that of Chrysler Imperial which has a deep large red bloom and is popular type of Tea rose. There are also kinds that are named after famous places and people like Queen Elizabeth, John Kennedy and Chicago Peace Rose.

If you belong to the novice gardener category then you can go through the garden catalogue which will help you in selecting a specimen that can be easily grown and is hardy.  While shopping for roses from garden centers you must go through the tag properly and follow all the directions printed in it very carefully. You may sometimes feel that the instructions given are very silly but it is advised that you follow all the steps that are mentioned for feeding, planting, pruning and watering.  

Those that are newly planted require more water than the ones that are already established. Watering must be done very deeply for the roots to develop. It is always better to water the plants during the day as watering them in the evening can get them affected by fungal problems, diseases and insect infestation. While watering make sure you water the area of soil that is below and try to avoid wetting up the leaves.

The recommendations given for pruning and feeding must be strictly followed. Cutting or pruning of roses must be done during early spring.  Dying or wilted blooms must be removed for encouraging new buds.

It requires only little bit of attention and care for your garden to look beautiful with those dramatic and classic roses.
